Joshua Amendt-Moylan

Josh’s students benefit from his low-pressure, no-ego approach to both guitar and piano. Over the years, hundreds of his students have connected with his love of music as someone who knows the fundamentals that separate noodling from real playing. Joshua is a teacher who took the long road - from school band trumpet to ACDC riffs full volume to Grade 8 Conservatory piano to a Bachelor of Music in classical guitar - and can distill all of it into making his students better musicians.

Josh teaches across Cordova Bay and from his home studio in the Gorge. Perpetually ‘waitlist only,’ students should sign up quick when he has availability as it never lasts long. His students leave with solid technique, a daily practice habit, and the drive to keep improving. He still gets the Led out sometimes, but he understands the importance of knowing the fundamentals in music and the powerful influence of exploring every genre under the sun.
